Tax Director

Location: Outside of Pittsburgh, PA (Primarily Onsite with Flexibility for Remote Work)

Compensation: $175,000 – $200,000 (commensurate with experience)

A respected CPA firm located just outside of Pittsburgh is seeking an experienced Tax Director to lead and mentor .This is a high-impact, primarily onsite position with flexibility for remote work as needed. Ideal for a dynamic leader with a strong tax generalist background and the desire to develop staff, drive results, and maintain high client service standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead all aspects of tax planning, compliance, and review for both corporate and individual clients
• Retain and grow client relationships by providing high-value advisory and tax strategy
• Oversee staff workflow, utilization, and development
• Serve as a resource and mentor, conducting performance evaluations and coordinating training
• Drive internal initiatives such as creating thought leadership content (articles, webinars, etc.)
• Stay current on tax regulations, ensure best practices, and support continuous improvement
• Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and service excellence

Qualifications:

Required:

• CPA or EA certification
• 5–7 years of public accounting experience
• 3–5 years of leadership experience in tax services
• Strong corporate and individual tax knowledge
• Proven ability to manage client engagements and staff performance

Preferred:

• Master’s in Taxation
• Experience developing junior staff and managing departmental training
• High emotional intelligence and strong interpersonal skills
• Ability to lead by example, provide timely feedback, and maintain a positive team culture
