Role Overview:

As a Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE), you’ll work directly with customers to deploy and tailor Dart Health’s system to their needs. You'll bridge the gap between engineering and customer success—handling integrations, customizing models, and enabling data-driven workflows across diverse clinical systems.

Responsibilities:

• Own technical deployments for new customers, including VPN setup, DB integrations, and python workflows.
• Build and optimize AI models (LLMs, embedding-based retrieval, vision models, etc.) for real-world use cases.
• Develop and manage data pipelines for ingestion, cleaning, and transformation of clinical data (ETL).
• Fine-tune models on customer-specific corpora using both structured and unstructured inputs.
• Collaborate with clinicians, analysts, and IT teams to design and iterate on model prompts, outputs, and QA processes.
• Troubleshoot data access, latency, and reliability issues across on-prem and cloud environments.
• Contribute to internal tooling that supports rapid iteration, deployment, and performance monitoring.

Preferred Experience:

• 2+ years of experience in software engineering, machine learning, or data infrastructure (startup or healthcare experience is a plus).
• Proficiency with Python and common ML/AI frameworks.
• Experience with database systems (SQL), VPNs, and APIs for clinical systems (FHIR, HL7, custom EMR APIs).
• Hands-on experience with embedding models, LLM fine-tuning, or computer vision training pipelines.
• Strong debugging skills across DBs, ETL processes, and model deployment pipelines.
• Ability to communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Comfort working in fast-paced, ambiguous environments where customer needs shape product priorities.

Bonus Points:

• Experience in healthcare data (EMRs, EHRs, HIEs) or working with clinical or administrative teams.
• Exposure to RPA tools/functions like UiPath, Power Automate, or custom scripting for EMRs.
• Familiarity with cloud deployments (AWS/GCP) and container orchestration (Docker, K8s).
