Novel Biotechnology USA, Inc, located in scenic Vancouver, WA, is a life science technology company on a mission to make cutting-edge genetic medicines more accessible. We are developing plasmid DNA biomanufacturing platforms that are safe, scalable, adaptable to complex DNA payloads, have improved product quality, and are many times more productive than existing systems. We deploy our proprietary technologies in manufacturing services that we offer to a growing base of clients.

The role in a nutshell:

Novel Bio is looking for a Research Associate that has meaningful hands-on experience in large-scale plasmid purification – from cell lysis to final formulation. This person is also motivated to learn new skills and would be willing to spend a significant fraction of time being involved in the upstream process by learning how to execute bioreactor runs.

What you’ll need to bring to the table:

· You have meaningful hands-on experience with large-scale plasmid DNA purification – This one is non-negotiable. You need to be familiar with all operations involved in downstream processing of plasmid DNA, including alkaline lysis, clarification, chromatographic purification (both IEX and HIC), and TFF. Familiarity with AKTA systems and the associated Unicorn software will be important.

· You are willing to learn upstream process development – Being mentored by our head of fermentation, you will learn how to execute fed-batch bioreactor runs. A significant portion of your time will support upstream process development efforts.

· The laboratory is your happy place – You love being hands-on at the bench, setting up new gear, and diving into experiments (from planning to data analysis).
