Title : Supplier Quality Engineer (Quality/Test Engineer II)

Location : Lafayette, IN

Duration : 12 month contract to start with likely extensions & potential to convert to direct hire

Pay Rate: ~$33/hr (W2 + Benefits) or $34/hr C2C

Job Description:

This role supports production and engineering teams by investigating supplier and operational quality issues. The Quality Engineer ensures issues are clearly defined, documented, and communicated to mitigate downtime and drive continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

• Investigate and define supplier and operational quality issues.
• Manage nonconformances via Process Change Notifications or Deviations.
• Facilitate root cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Coordinate containment and rework efforts.
• Support NPI projects and process change management.

Story Behind the Need:

This position is being added to support increased production volume and supplier complexity. The Quality Engineer will play a vital role in ensuring timely issue resolution and maintaining production flow.

Typical Day:

• Review quality rejects and initiate investigations.
• Coordinate with cross-functional teams on containment and resolution.
• Track, document, and communicate findings and follow-ups.
• Participate in improvement and problem-solving projects.

Team Interaction:

Collaborates across supplier, production, engineering, and logistics functions. Reports to the Quality Manager.

Work Environment:

Split between office and production floor.

Qualifications (Required):

• 2–4 years in manufacturing or quality.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
• Data analysis, blueprint reading, and problem-solving skills.
• MS Office proficiency.
• Experience with gauges and measurements.

Soft Skills (Required):

• Attention to detail and strong communication skills.
• Calm under pressure and team-oriented.

Qualifications (Desired):

• Bachelor’s in engineering, technology, or science.
• ASQ CQE certification.
