Job Description

Our client is a national nonprofit and is seeking a strong HR Director with compliance, HR Ops, and culture experience. Nonprofit experience is not a requirement, however a passion for their mission is.

Compensation: 130-140k

Location: Santa Ana 3 days weekly, some weeks will require travel to other local sites.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provide counsel, assistance and direction on employee relations, recruitment, and organizational development and training; Evaluates HR metrics to identify beneficial programs and training.
  • Partner with Administrators, Program and Department Leaders across the Organization to address issues and concerns.
  • Proactively and promptly addresses employees’ inquiries and concerns, advises Organization leadership of all issues raised, and recommends appropriate responses accordingly.
  • Advise employees regarding HR policies and processes and oversee day-to-day HR processes related to new hires, promotions, transfers, leaves and terminations.
  • In conjunction with Senior Leadership, conducts prompt, thorough, properly documented and well-executed investigations in response to employee complaints and job-related incidents; identifies, recommends, and oversees implementation of appropriate actions in response to investigation findings.
  • Ensures strong recognition and reward programs are in place, in addition to a robust calendar of morale-boosting activities.
  • Fosters an environment that promotes teamwork, recognition, respect, and employee satisfaction.
  • Provides coaching and formal training to supervisors on key employee relations’ topics.
  • Develops and implements strategic recruitment and retention plans for key positions.
  • Ensures policies, procedures, practices and processes are in compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Maintain and implement new HR tools, HRIS, ATS, and/or performance tools, to support organizational growth, operational efficiencies, and compliance.

Qualifications:

  • The position requires a strategic, hands-on leader who is self-motivated, energetic and able to partner effectively with the organizational leadership to gain their respect and trust.
  • Capacity to work in an extremely fast paced, multi-faceted environment with the ability to utilize sound judgment, discretion and maintain confidentiality.
  • Demonstrated problem solving and conflict resolution skills with the ability to provide high quality independent analysis, conclusions, and recommendations.
  • Must be knowledgeable in all aspects of Human Resources and federal & state laws, and exhibit a high degree of confidence, integrity and professionalism.
  • Superior written, verbal and presentation communication skills are required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, business administration or other related fields.
  • At least 8-10 years of progressive Human Resources experience, including experiencing experience managing HR professionals. Master’s degree and SPHR preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of current labor regulations including ADA, FMLA, CFRA, PDL, EEO, DFEH, California Labor Code, Wage and Hour Law, Title VII, IRS, ERISA, benefits and COBRA laws.
