About the Role

The Financial Aid Counselor helps prospective students and their families navigate the financial aid process. You’ll explain funding options, scholarships, and Title IV requirements while ensuring compliance with regulations. This role is ideal for detail-oriented graduates interested in finance, counseling, or higher education administration.

Responsibilities :

  • Uphold the Nurtur Core Values and Behaviors and Aveda Success Factors.
  • Counsel students and families on financial aid processes and funding options.
  • Guide prospective students through the FAFSA completion and correction process.
  • Stay current on financial aid regulations, policies, and scholarship opportunities.
  • Track and analyze student engagement data in the CRM to improve outreach and conversion.
  • Collaborate with Admissions and Financial Aid teams to achieve enrollment goals.
  • Apply core values – like accountability, teamwork, and trust – while building relationships.
  • Help students solve financial challenges by applying problem-solving and solution-oriented thinking.
  • Translate complex regulations into clear, supportive guidance for students and families.
  • Provide professional and empathetic support to students facing financial challenges.
  • Performs duties as assigned and/or required to meet business needs.
  • Abides by all other Nurtur policies and procedures as outlined in the Team Member Handbook and Code of Conduct.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree; Master's preferred
  • Prior work experience in Financial Aid, Collections, or Sales
  • Exhibit self-direction, initiative, resourcefulness, and follow-through with the ability to work at a fast pace and handle multiple tasks and projects at the same time.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrate extreme professionalism and confidentiality in manner, dress, and conduct.

Travel Requirements:

The team member in this position must be able to travel locally to events and for out-of-state training as necessary.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

  • Sit at a desk with a computer for up to eight (8) hours per day.
  • Use hands to handle objects and reach with hands and arms.
  • Walk, sit, stand, balance, stoop, speak, and hear.
  • See a computer screen and read paper and electronic documents.
  • Occasionally lift and/or move objects up to 30 pounds.
  • Tolerate a minimal to moderate noise level typical of a corporate office setting.
