Job Description

Location: Must be based in, or willing to relocate to, a location within reasonable commuting distance of Sterling, VA; Mesa, AZ, or Denver, CO

As Director, Construction Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS), you will serve as a strategic leader and key driver of EdgeCore’s safety culture across our expanding portfolio of data centers. Reporting to the Senior Director, EHS, you will collaborate closely with Construction and external vendor teams to ensure our EHS standards are not only met—but consistently exceeded.

You will be responsible for developing and executing EdgeCore’s construction EHS strategy and program, partnering closely with internal and external stakeholders to drive compliance, streamline operations, and foster culture of ownership and accountability. This high impact role offers significant visibility and influence over both day-to-day execution and long-term EHS planning. You will lead and mentor a team of contractor EHS professionals, ensuring excellence in performance and alignment with EdgeCore’s commitment to safety.

  • Lead and manage EdgeCore’s construction Environmental, Health & Safety program, ensuring policies are up-to-date, effective, and aligned with Client expectations and applicable regulations.
  • Champion a proactive safety culture through employee and vendor engagement, safety recognition initiatives, and consistent reinforcement of EHS best practices.
  • Guide teams in identifying, assessing, and mitigating high-risk activities and hazardous conditions.
  • Lead root cause analyses of incidents and oversee timely implementation of corrective actions.
  • Monitor and report construction EHS performance through KPIs, audits, site inspections, and regular field observations.
  • Build and deliver scalable, role-specific EHS training programs for both employees and contractors to ensure understanding and compliance of safety standards.
  • Play a hands-on leadership role in scaling the EHS function, including recruiting, onboarding, and developing future team members as the organization grows.
  • Represent the company in safety-related discussions with Clients and partners, demonstrating credibility and commitment to a best practice safety culture.

Your Experience and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, Industrial Safety, or a related field preferred.
  • 5+ years of progressive EHS experience in construction, data centers, or other mission-critical environments.
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or equivalent certification preferred; OSHA 30-hour, First Aid/CPR/BBP, and AED certifications strongly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of hazard assessment, safety controls, incident investigation, and regulatory compliance.
  • Experience with ISO 45001 or similar safety management systems is a plus.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills; able to clearly convey complex EHS topics to diverse audiences.
  • High integrity, sound judgment, and the ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth environment and to travel 30–50% as needed.

What We Offer

  • This role requires in-office or project site presence four days per week and must be based in, or willing to relocate to, a location within reasonable commuting distance of Sterling, VA; Mesa, AZ, or Denver, CO
  • If located near Denver, this role is based in downtown Denver, with parking for the successful candidate paid by EdgeCore
  • If located in DMV area, this role is based in Sterling, Virginia, with free on-site parking
  • Base salary range is $160-200k, depending on experience
  • Medical, dental & vision insurance coverage
  • Health & Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs), Health Savings Account (HSA)
